Super Powered Pickups modded?
I saw a thread on tubes inserted into pedals, and what not and heres a big question
in an active pick up it, it has a preamp; WHAT IF you put a tube in that? to help the ol preamp out? i mean try and not flame me if i sound retarded i am not a master of the electronics/inner workings of a guitar.
Also could i modd a Solid State head to make it Valve State? (yes i know Valvestate are gay) I just want to know if its possible, as a friend is offering to give me one of his old Crate Solid State heads (which i realize also from past posts they are not to choice) i was wondering if i could valvestate it to warm it up a wee bit. Thanks

i've never heard of putting a tube in a guitar before... and the process of making a s.s. head into a valvestate style head, would be more trouble and money than it's worth.....
but the majority of tube warmth comes from the power amp stage anyways.
most people don't realize that... brands like marshall that make the avt's & mode four style amps are just ripping people off. kids think it's tube or something because there is a tube or two in the preamp stage... so they charge more for it.
hell, alot of tube warmth is actually just in your mind... when people frown upon an amp simply because it's not "all tube" i laugh at them because if they didn't already know it wasnt all tube then they probably wouldnt even be able to notice. preamps like the jmp-1, mp-1, mp-2, access, ect. arent all tube, but they sound really good and to the ear you can't hear that they arent tube... but some people want to be considered "tube freaks" so they compromise what could be the best tone they can get because they limit themselves to only "all tube" amps....
but the most significant real "tube tone" is from the poweramp stage..
the reason more tube amps are good than bad, compared to s.s. amps being mostly bad and less good... it costs more money to make tube amps... and if a product costs more money, they have to sell it for more.... and to sell an item for more, you have to make it good enough so people will feel comfortable spending that kind of $$$ on your amp, instead of buying something cheaper but just as good....
not to mention the tube sound has more desireable characteristics.
just play the amp if you like it
