I'm looking into buying a bass half stack and head. I want to stay under $500.

If guitar gear has anything in common with bass gear, there not a lot of oppinion to be expected for under $500. Then again, I know nothing about bass gear.

High-end bass heads are generally cheaper than guitar heads, but cabs are more expensive(or at least they should be).

isnt that the same make flea uses in chilli peppers?
have a look at some ashdown amps, the bassist in my band has an ashdown full stack, seriously fucking nice sound.
