preamp for tech death metal and deathcore
i currently have the non tube b-52 half stack and a jackson dinky
i am looking for a preamp to add to my sound
what do you guys suggest for giving a clean bottom end with tight mids, but still some ear shattering highs...
the b-52 gives me some pretty damn good lows but i need to accentuate the highs more?
i know im probably not making sense but hey im trying.
also it must be all tube so i can play with the sound a bit.
and i can't afford to spend more than between 200-400

edit: note this will be coupled with a DOD 231QX

That sounds EXACTLY like an ENGL 530. The bottom end is clear the mids are heavy and has ear shattering highs. Im not to fond of their highs really.

Dead thread is dead. However, the two preamps I use, Soldano SP77 and Mesa Boogie Triaxis have always served me well. If you look into getting either or, I'd also look into a VHT/Fryette poweramp (2:90:2 is a beast). The VHT&MESA combo gives disgustingly smooth leads. DISGUSTINGLY.
... Then again, the best preamp available: Fractal Axe-FX Ultra. I have it at the end of the loop in my rig and it makes my rig. Super serial.
